Vin Diesel is pushing the Fast & Furious saga toward its ultimate curtain call, and he’s widening the franchise’s already star-packed universe with an unexpected addition: a global icon making his screen debut.
This week, Diesel revealed that Cristiano Ronaldo has a place in the upcoming 12th and concluding chapter, Fast X: Part 2, which is scheduled to hit theaters in April 2027. He shared the news with a photo of himself and Ronaldo on Instagram, captioning it: “Everyone asked, would he be in the Fast mythology… I gotta tell you he is a real one. We wrote a role for him.”
Back in February 2024, Diesel had already announced that the next installment would mark the franchise’s farewell. He described the finale not merely as an ending, but as a celebration of the extraordinary family the series has built over the years.
The ensemble that has shaped the franchise since its 2001 origins—led by Diesel and the late Paul Walker—has grown to include a broad lineup: Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez, Charlize Theron, Dwayne Johnson, Jason Momoa, Helen Mirren, Cardi B, John Cena, Jason Statham, Gal Gadot, Ludacris, Bow Wow, Vanessa Kirby, and Alan Ritchson, among others.
Earlier this year, Diesel also noted that production on the finale would return to Los Angeles after the devastating wildfires in January, signaling a move back to home base for the film’s climactic phase.
